At a very young age he was already fascinated by photography; every day he would stop to contemplate the storefront of photographer Manuel Paratge, on Prat de la Riba Street, in Canet de Mar. He took his first snapshots with a wooden camera that belonged to his mother.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-5\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-5-1\">1946<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-6\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-camera\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-6-1\"><\/p>\n<p>He sets up his first photographic laboratory in Canet de Mar (Fotograf&iacute;a Forcano), making reports of local life. However, before starting his career as a professional photographer Eugeni works as a \"freelance salesman\" linked to the textile industry \"Can Maynou\" in which his father was the manager. It was a fabric and canvas factory from which Forcano obtained the necessary material to create his own store \"Forcano Creations and Fantasies&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-7\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-7-1\">1949<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-8\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-group\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-8-1\"><\/p>\n<p>His growing interest in photography leads him to become a member of the Agrupaci&oacute; Fotogr&agrave;fica de Catalunya, to which he will belong throughout his life.<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-9\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-9-1\">1950<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-10\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-bus\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-10-1\"><\/p>\n<p>In the early 50's Eugeni Forcano founds \"Transportes Catedral\" (Calle Joaquim Pou, 4 in Barcelona), a company dedicated to home delivery (Delibery or Globo have not invented anything new!). As in the case of the accessories store, the company achieves a remarkable commercial success, working for famous people, such as the cupletista Raquel Meyer or the aeronautical company \"Aviaco\".<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-11\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-11-1\">1959<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-12\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-camera-retro\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-12-1\"><\/p>\n<p>He bursts into the world of photography and takes part in international exhibitions - where he obtains important prizes - as well as in national competitions.<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-13\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-13-1\">1960<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-14\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-wpforms\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-14-1\"><\/p>\n<p>He begins to work for the weekly magazine Destino, for which he will make covers and reports as a permanent collaborator until 1974.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eugeniforcano.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/F4-Portadas-de-Destino-Large.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with his brother Josep, he creates \"Studio Forcano\" (in Joaquim Pou Street, 4, where Transportes Catedral had previously been). He was immediately called by Seix y Barral Publicidad. This led the same publishing house to commission him to create covers for the Biblioteca Breve and the Formentor collection. He also created covers for Editorial Aym&agrave;. He traveled to Paris at the invitation of the French General Commissariat of Tourism, as part of a group of Spanish photographers composed of Cuallad&oacute;, Cantero, G&oacute;mez, Bast&eacute;, Colom, Cubar&oacute;, Masats, Maspons, Miserachs and Onta&ntilde;&oacute;n, who later exhibited, also collectively, in Paris, Madrid and Barcelona, under the title Eleven photographers in Paris.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-17\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-17-1\">1963<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-18\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-trophy\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-18-1\"><\/p>\n<p>Awarded the City of Barcelona Prize for black and white photography. Forcano presented his work about a new way of creating images, \"provoking chance through light\" to a group of Spanish intellectuals (Jos&eacute; Lu&iacute;s Aranguren, J.L. Sampedro, J. M. Lozano, Llu&iacute;s Folch i Camarasa, J. M. Forcada, Alfredo Rubio de Castarlenas, etc.).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Noticiero Universal echoed the event and Rosario M. Rochina, photography columnist, wrote: \"This is not just another achievement in the revolutionary work of Eugenio Forcano, but an important conquest of photography in general. We are in a position to affirm that nothing similar has yet been produced at the international level\". In volume 45 -the last one- of the Complete Works of Josep Pla, his photographs were published. One of these, \"Portrait of farewell\" of Josep Pla, symbolic and expressive, served as the cover of the book.<\/p>\n<p><\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-current-date fg-text-dark ffb-date-52\"><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-current-day fg-text-dark ffb-day-52-1\">1985<\/h5><\/li><li class=\"timeline-v2-list-item fg-text-dark ffb-lecture-53\"><i class=\"timeline-v2-badge-icon radius-circle ff-font-awesome4 icon-trophy\"><\/i><h5 class=\"timeline-v2-news-title fg-text-dark ffb-description-53-1\"><\/p>\n<p>He is awarded the Negtor-84 Grand Prize for color photography.
